The PUDDLE JUMPER-PRO surfboard from LOST Surfboards was born as a challenge posed by Nate Yeomans, former World Tour surfer and California sales representative, along with Ben Kelley, general manager and skilled surfer. Both had become addicted to the Puddle Jumper HP over the past few years and wanted to evolve it, maintaining its essence but taking it to a new level.
The idea was clear: “We want to stretch the PJHP to make it more like a shortboard, but still keep it easy to maneuver like the original, and retain its ability to rip as a quad.” Both Nate and Ben surf the standard 5’6"x 20" model with 29.50 liters. From that design, they decided to stretch the board to 5'8", narrow it to 19.50", sharpen both the nose and tail, and increase the nose rocker to make it closer to a high-performance shortboard. However, they were careful to retain the low tail rocker and deep concave transitioning from single to double, with a "vee" in the tail—features that provide control and power.
The result is a football-shaped outline that is very fast but free underfoot. It maintains the classic Puddle Jumper drive, with the added agility of the pulled-in nose and the extra rail length, allowing for longer, more critical carves and snaps, offering maneuverability and control in all conditions.
Construction:
Pukas surfboards are made in the Olatu factory, in the Basque country. Olatu owns the brand Pukas and builds for two big ones: Lost and Al Merrick. Polyurethane foam core, Silmar polyester resin and Hexcel fiberglass. Great finishing and exceptional expertise.
