Surfboard Lost The Ripper

The Channel Island The Ripper is a high-performance board designed to tear apart small to medium waves with style and aggression. Derived from the popular Rad Ripper, this board takes the features of its predecessor to a new level, eliminating the 1980s nostalgia to offer a more modern, performance-focused design. Inspired by Kolohe Andino, who requested specific tweaks to update the Rad Ripper, The Ripper has been fine-tuned to provide a more current experience while retaining the fun characteristics of the original.

To create this new design, the classic beak nose was removed, and the deck was completely reworked, swapping the flat deck and steep rails for a more moderate curve and softer rails. The tail was thinned out, retaining a boxy block for better control in critical sections of the wave. A slightly increased nose rocker was also added to better fit quick, tight transitions, and the nose area was reduced for a sleeker, more aerodynamic look.

The Ripper retains the low rocker of the Rad Ripper, with a single concave center and a deep double concave/vee that extends through the fins to the tail, offering speed and control in every maneuver. This surfboard is designed to be surfed aggressively off the tail, responding well to back-foot pressure—ideal for carving, snapping, and powerful turns. However, more casual surfers will also enjoy its built-in speed and the ease of directional changes, thanks to the double concave/vee.

The rounded deck, softer, lower rails, increased nose rocker, and reduced nose area, combined with a more harmonized tail outline, all work together to modernize and enhance The Ripper. This surfboard is a true performance machine for small waves, perfect for both intermediate surfers and pros looking for a high-performance tool.

Recommended in a size similar to your original Rad Ripper, but with a bit less foam for a playful feel. Or, if you prefer a more relaxed surf, go a bit longer.

Construction:

Pukas surfboards are made in the Olatu factory, in the Basque country. Olatu owns the brand Pukas and builds for two big ones: Lost and Al Merrick. Polyurethane foam core, Silmar polyester resin and Hexcel fiberglass. Great finishing and exceptional expertise.
