Surf grips are placed on the tail of your surfboard. They increase the grip of the back foot and eliminate the need for wax in that area. They are also a fashion accessory due to the wide variety of designs, colors, and models available. Use our filtering system to refine your selection based on your search criteria.

Surf Grip Frequently Asked Questions

The surf grips are placed on the back of the surfboard and serve to increase the level of grip without having to resort to the use of wax or paraffin. Besides, they are also a decorative element due to the endless number of designs currently available.

The surf grip is very easy to apply. This accessory includes an adhesive part that makes the process easier. Start by cleaning and drying the back of your surfboard. Then, remove the adhesive backing and place the grip piece by piece. Press it firmly to avoid air bubbles and allow it to dry for about 24 hours before using your board. Ready for a better grip!

The Arch Bar of a surf grip is the pronounced bridge in the center of the grip. This feature provides better grip according to your type of surfboard and foot shape, ensuring better adaptation to your grip.

The Kick Tail of a surf grip is the raised rear bump that provides optimal grip when performing maneuvers and prevents your foot from slipping backwards. A higher bump ensures that your foot remains securely in place when pushing the tail of the surfboard during a maneuver.

Yes. The surf grip is an essential part of the board to provide a good grip on your back foot.

It is also highly recommended if you are starting to surf, as it gives you a reference point for where to place your back foot and helps you get used to foot placement and body posture.

However, for example, a softboard surfboard does not require a grip because it cannot be glued on.

We recommend a surf grip based on the following:

  • Number of pieces: Multiple pieces are usually used to perfectly adapt the grip to the width of your surfboard's tail. However, depending on the type of surfboard, a single-piece grip may be suitable, and it also depends on the preferences of the rider.
  • Arch Bar and Kick Tail: These elements are often overlooked but are important. For example, the Arch Bar should be higher for individuals with a more pronounced foot arch.

The Kick Tail refers to the rear block where you’ll place your foot to perform more radical turns, ensuring that your foot doesn’t slip off.
