The Firewire Mashup surfboard is now available in Volcanic construction, a Firewire-signed innovation that adds volcanic stone powder to the fiber to achieve a basalt fiber. The Mashup was born from the hands of Rob Machado and Dan Mann, blending each of their most popular designs, the Seaside and the Spitfire.
The Mashup surfboard is perfect for everyday use as it adapts to all types of waves.
Thanks to its volume, it performs better in weak or low-power waves, where it can generate a lot of speed without giving up more vertical surfing in more powerful waves, hence it's a very versatile board recommended for waves between 0.5m and 1.5m.
Volcanic Epoxy Construction:
The Volcanic construction uses basalt fibers extruded from crushed and melted volcanic rocks. These fibers have characteristics similar to carbon in terms of strength and weight, but are more environmentally friendly as they are of organic origin. Basalt fiber is resistant to chemicals and is used in the manufacturing of surfboards, as well as in the aerospace industry for rockets and jet engines. It has higher resistance to high temperatures and greater elasticity than traditional carbon fiber.
