The general rule is to choose a leash of the same length as the surfboard, to avoid possible injuries. In small waves we can choose a leash a little shorter than the board, while in big waves, it is better to choose a leash a little longer than the board. For the diameter, the standard is 7mm, but in small waves we can choose a leash with reduced diameter (Comp) to reduce the weight, while in larger waves, it is advisable to choose a leash with a superior diameter, to obtain a better resistance.

The DaKine Imua Comp is a surf leash with a reduced diameter of 3/16 inches (5 mm) that stands out for being environmentally friendly. It is lightweight and comfortable, and it is specially designed for use in small to medium waves, from 0 to 4 feet.
This leash features a cable and Opti-Flex ends made of biodegradable urethane, which helps reduce its environmental impact. Additionally, the ankle cuff measuring 1.5 inches (40 mm) is made of a biodegradable recycled polyester webbing and includes double stainless steel swivels for added durability.
